The third test match between Australia and India will witness 25% capacity at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The reason being COVID-19 outbreak in New South Wales State, Cricket Australia has come up with the new seating capacity norms.
Besides, there are speculations about the fourth test being moved from Brisbane to Sydney. The fourth test will take place starting from Jan. 15 to 19. The SCG had previously reduced to 50% capacity because of restrictions in place for the coronavirus pandemic.
Now Cricket Australia has halved that again which will allow less than 10,000 people daily. The move comes after consultation with the state government and health authorities. There were 188 active COVID-19 cases in the state, as the Australian Broadcasting Corp. said.
In the four-test series, the scores are leveled at 1-1 after the completion of 2 tests. India has lost to Australia in the first test that took place in Adelaide. However, the host was beaten by eight wickets in Melbourne in the second test match that was completed last week.
Players of both the teams along with support staff have tested negative before they started traveling to Sydney on Monday. Also, Travel restrictions are in place in cities and states across Australia. The series is being played amid a backdrop of biosecurity rules.
